Marek ‘Slush’ Palatinus launched Bitcoin.cz Mining Pool in Prague in December 2010, later known as Slush Pool and Braiins Pool. Paralelní Polis opened in Holešovice in 2014 as a space for cryptoanarchy, privacy, art and self-organised institutions. Bitcoin Coffee made practical bitcoin payments visible, but one café cannot serve as a citywide statistic of sustained merchant adoption. The original Paralelní Polis project ended regular activity after ten years in 2024. Its successor cowork Second Culture closed in March 2026 and Dělnická 43 changed use, so older accounts must not describe the venue as a Bitcoin institution operating today.
