Satsback here means Satsback.com, a service that shares its commission for referring a purchase with the shopper. Rewards are expressed in satoshis, small units of bitcoin, and sent through the Lightning Network, a payment network built on Bitcoin. This is not a name for every bitcoin loyalty scheme. You need not pay for the goods in bitcoin, and a listed store does not necessarily accept bitcoin.
Imagine Jana already needs new shoes and visits the shop through Satsback.com. If the purchase qualifies, the shop pays the service a commission for referring a customer. The service keeps part and uses part to fund a bitcoin reward. The model resembles cashback, where some money is returned after a purchase. It is neither interest on a deposit nor bitcoin mining. Jana spends her own money at the shop; the reward is conditional additional income. [1] [2]
Before paying, Jana compares the final shoe price and delivery cost. Satsback.com terms calculate rewards on the eligible net purchase value, not automatically the entire receipt; shipping and taxes are excluded. An offer may restrict products, countries, new or existing customers, or coupons. If chasing the reward costs Jana a better discount, she may pay more overall. The whole purchase matters, not just the attractive percentage beside the store name. [3]
Satsback.com must identify that Jana arrived through its link or an activated browser extension. Tracking blockers, cookies or another discount code can disrupt that attribution. A pending account entry is not a paid reward: the merchant checks that the order was completed and not returned. Treat Experimental stores with extra care. According to its FAQ, the service pays through the Lightning Network. For a beginner, that means choosing a wallet able to receive through this payment route. A Lightning Address is a reusable payment identifier resembling an email address; it is not an email inbox. It can support automatic payouts if the receiving service works correctly. An ordinary on-chain address, for a payment recorded directly on the Bitcoin blockchain, is different. Under Satsback.com terms, the account figure records a reward; bitcoin ownership transfers only upon successful payout. The provider says it does not hold digital assets on your behalf beforehand. An available balance is therefore not Self-Custody, meaning custody controlled by your own keys. A Lightning Address alone does not guarantee that even after payout: who operates the receiving wallet matters. If its provider holds the keys, you still depend on that provider. At the 2026-10-23 review, the FAQ gives 12 months to withdraw an available reward. The terms effective from 2026-02-13 also link expiry to failing to supply valid payment details within that period after the reward becomes available. The current FAQ therefore no longer contains the former discrepancy over this deadline. Its reference to 180 days now concerns contacting support about an unconfirmed purchase, with an exception for booking platforms; it is not the withdrawal period for an available reward. Attributing and paying a reward requires some data processing. Satsback.com Privacy Policy lists account and reward information, Lightning Address, IP address, cookies and technical logs. A claim that the extension does not store browsing history is therefore different from saying the entire platform processes no data. The shop also has its own policies and order information. Jana keeps the offer, order and payout record. She contacts Satsback.com support about a missing reward and the merchant about faulty shoes. To assess the saving, she includes possible fees, the exchange rate and spread—the gap between buying and selling prices when converting—and checks local tax rules. The received bitcoin can rise or fall in value in her ordinary currency. A useful reward on a planned purchase is different from buying something unnecessary for a reward. Jana returns the shoes: what happens to the reward?
In this fictional example, Jana activates an offer, buys shoes and sees a pending reward in her account. The shoes do not fit, so she returns them and the merchant does not approve the purchase for a reward. The displayed figure cannot count as bitcoin received. A completed order would still need reward approval and a successful payout to the chosen wallet. A purchase history entry does not replace those steps.

01Must I pay for the goods in bitcoin?+
No. The shop can accept an ordinary payment and pay a referral commission to the service. Satsback.com sends the bitcoin reward. A store joining the program does not by itself mean that you can pay there with bitcoin.
02Is an available reward already in my own wallet?+
No. Availability for withdrawal is not the same as a successful payout. After receipt, who controls the wallet keys still matters. A Lightning Address is a payment identifier, not proof of self-custody.
