Bitcoinovej Kanál was a creator-led project by Jakub “Kicom” Vejmola. It ended as a distinct brand in October 2025 and the same YouTube channel continued as Kicom; its large archive and the Coin Espresso format remained available.
When Jakub Vejmola launched Bitcoinovej Kanál at the start of 2019, he wanted to offer more than price news. His aim was to explain Bitcoin from the ground up, step by step, for people with no previous knowledge of it. He used his experience with cameras, editing and animated graphics to build a medium around his own face and storytelling. It was not Bitcoin’s official channel; it was a personal attempt to make a difficult subject understandable. [1] [2]
The project had no guarantee of surviving its first months. Kicom set a condition: if it failed to reach one thousand subscribers by summer, he would return to other work. He reached that milestone and overcame his fear of speaking to a camera. Ten thousand followed, then tens of thousands and eventually more than one hundred thousand subscribers. The channel’s story is therefore also the story of a creator learning to address an audience. [1] [7] [9] [10] [11]
Several different programmes gradually took shape on the channel. Úvod do Bitcoinu and Proč Bitcoin? welcomed beginners. Coin Espresso selected current news and added Kicom’s interpretation. Long streams opened the floor to chat, interviews brought in guests, and the podcast, an audio programme available online, republished the sound from videos. A podcast listener may therefore hear a reference to a chart or screen that is visible only in the original video. [2] [4] [15]
The name placed Bitcoin at the centre, and Kicom gradually embraced Bitcoin maximalism: the view that Bitcoin, above other cryptocurrencies, has lasting value. The historical catalogue is not purely Bitcoin-only, however; it does not deal exclusively with Bitcoin. It also covers Ethereum, other cryptocurrencies, market trading and broader economic issues such as inflation, alongside technology and current events. The archive thus shows how the creator’s views and the Czech cryptocurrency debate changed over time. [2] [10] [11]
Audience growth cannot be separated from periods when Bitcoin drew wider public interest. Media profiles reported more than 86,000 subscribers in June 2022, nearly 100,000 in 2024, and over 100,000 with almost 20 million views in October 2025. These figures describe the audience at the time, not the quality of every video. A useful lesson may reach fewer people, while a popular headline can age faster than a quiet technical explanation. The long Tuesday streams created something a prerecorded video cannot: a regular room where viewers asked questions, disagreed and returned under familiar usernames. Kicom later said that interaction with the chat and meeting viewers in person became some of the most enjoyable parts of the work. The channel was therefore more than a video library; a recognisable community formed around the broadcasts. [5] [6] [7] [13]
Growth also changed the economics. Revenue came from YouTube, Patreon, advertisers, lectures, workshops and a merchandise shop. Kicom said that he rejected promotions for NFTs and questionable coins. NFTs are individually identifiable digital tokens, for example linked to a collectible image. Kicom’s statement alone does not establish the reliability of the whole archive. For a particular episode, it remains useful to know whether it contains a partner, a product link or a subject in which the author has a financial interest. [7] [14] [16]
Coin Espresso and other videos often combine three layers: a verifiable event, Kicom’s choice of what matters, and his opinion about its consequences. During ordinary viewing they can blend together. Opening the original filing, company result or technical proposal—and checking the date—helps separate them. A “not investment advice” disclaimer does not decide for the viewer, but neither does it make commentary worthless. [9] [12] [7]
On 8 October 2025, Konec Bitcoinovýho kanálu closed the chapter. Kicom wanted to end the narrowly Bitcoin-branded period when both the channel and Bitcoin’s price had reached striking milestones. He was not leaving the internet. He renamed the same channel Kicom, built a new studio and widened the agenda to technology and investment stories. Coin Espresso continued, while the regular Tuesday streams paused. [3] [7] [8]
By autumn 2026 the Kicom channel remains active, new Coin Espresso episodes continue and the podcast feed is available. The old Bitcoinovej Kanál website and shop also still work. This can make the transition look superficial, but the original brand belongs to a completed phase of the work, from 2019–2025. The archive remains useful as long as a viewer reads the date and context and distinguishes the historical channel from Kicom’s current work. [1] [2] [4] [5] [8] [15]
