P2P 데이터를 받고 로컬 규칙으로 블록과 거래를 독립 검증하며 chainstate와 mempool을 유지하고 선택적으로 wallet, GUI, RPC를 제공한다.
Bitcoin Core는 MIT 라이선스로 Bitcoin 규칙과 네트워크 인터페이스를 구현한다. 하나의 repository가 Bitcoin을 단독 정의하지 않으며 운영자가 실행할 버전을 고른다.
IBD 동안 proof of work, 연결, 거래, script와 UTXO 지출을 확인한다. chainstate는 신뢰 서버에서 잔액을 복사하지 않고 로컬 검증으로 도출된다.
consensus 규칙은 유효 체인을 정한다. mempool과 relay policy는 미확인 거래에 로컬 규칙을 더하므로 비표준 거래도 합의상 유효할 수 있다.
P2P 계층은 여러 peer에서 header, block과 거래를 받는다. mempool은 서로 다르며 완전 검증된 후보 중 누적 work가 가장 큰 chain을 선택한다.
wallet 없이도 노드는 검증한다. 선택적 wallet은 descriptor, key, address와 거래를 관리하며 bitcoin-qt는 GUI, bitcoind는 daemon, bitcoin-cli는 RPC client다.
data directory에는 설정, block, chainstate와 wallet이 있다. pruning은 검증 후 오래된 데이터를 지워 disk를 절약하지만 과거 조회를 제한하며 txindex는 용도에 따른다.
JSON-RPC는 민감한 node와 wallet 작업을 허용한다. Internet에 공개하지 말고 bind와 firewall을 제한하며 안전한 인증과 최소 권한을 적용한다.
공식 binary는 SHA-256과 여러 builder의 서명을 제공한다. 신뢰하는 key도 확인하고 Guix로 build를 재현하여 독립 attestations를 비교할 수 있다.
patch, test, review는 누구나 참여한다. maintainer는 code를 merge할 수 있지만 다른 node 규칙을 원격 변경할 수 없고 user가 설치 버전을 결정한다.
공식 출처에서 받고 hash와 서명을 검증하며 release notes를 읽고 wallet backup과 복구를 시험한다. IBD, peer, 높이, disk, debug.log와 RPC 노출을 감시한다.
