Runes Bitcoin UTXOs पर fungible units को application state की तरह track करता है। Protocol block 840 000 पर activate हुआ और पुराने runestones ignore करता है; यह नया Bitcoin asset type या consensus change नहीं है। [4]

OP_RETURN OP_13 से शुरू पहला output runestone payload रखता है। Indexer data pushes जोड़ता, 128-bit LEB128 integers decode करता और etching, mint, pointer, edicts parse करता है; पहले match के बाद अगले outputs नहीं देखता। [1]

Etching BLOCK:TX Rune ID बनाता और name, divisibility, symbol, premine तथा amount, cap, height या offset window के mint terms तय कर सकता है। Name या symbol limited supply सिद्ध नहीं करते; पूरी transaction और terms निर्णायक हैं। [1]

Inputs के runes, mint और premine पहले unallocated रहते हैं। Edicts outputs को allocate करते हैं; शेष pointer या पहले non-OP_RETURN output में जाता है। गलत construction units को गलत जगह या burn कर सकती है। [1]

ord code Runes की normative specification है और conflict में code behavior मान्य है। Bitcoin full nodes transaction validate करते हैं, Rune name, supply, mint cap या balances नहीं; indexers को समान state बनानी होती है। [2]

Malformed runestone cenotaph है। Unknown even tags या flags, bad varints, invalid output indices या pointers सभी input runes burn कर सकते हैं; etching zero supply और unmintable होता है तथा failed mint cap खर्च कर सकता है। [1]

Names activation के बाद 17 500 blocks के periods में unlock होते हैं। Non-reserved name के लिए कम-से-कम छह confirmations वाले output को spend करने वाले input witness tapscript में commitment चाहिए; Turbo भविष्य changes स्वीकार करता है जो light-client cost बढ़ा सकते हैं। [1]

Rune ID, etching transaction, ord version, premine, divisibility, mint terms, mint count, edicts, pointer, cenotaph और current UTXO allocations जाँचें। Exchange ticker या एक wallet balance supply या ownership का प्रमाण नहीं है। [3]
