ČKMA

Czech Cryptocurrency Association

The Czech Cryptocurrency Association brings businesses and individuals together to address conditions for crypto businesses. Its work covers legislation, banking relationships and its own standards for member services.

ČKMA is a Czech industry association working across cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin. It represents its members, comments on business rules and runs its own certification programme. It is neither a state regulator nor an organisation that governs Bitcoin.

Bitcoin can operate without a central operator, but businesses built around it still need bank accounts, contracts and clear rules. This is the setting in which the Czech Cryptocurrency Association works. According to its own history, it became independent in April 2020, having previously operated as a cryptocurrency platform within the Czech Fintech Association. It brought together businesses facing similar difficulties with banks and public authorities. Its remit extends beyond Bitcoin to the cryptocurrency industry as a whole. [1]

The association gathers members’ experiences and seeks to bring them to people who draft laws or shape access to financial services. Its website describes comments on anti-money-laundering rules and MiCA, alongside discussions with Czech institutions. This is advocacy and a contribution to public debate. ČKMA does not pass laws, and its position need not represent every bitcoin holder. Knowing whose interests a proposal represents helps readers put it in context. [2]

ČKMA has its own programme in which applicants submit a questionnaire and supporting documents for assessment. They can address shortcomings by providing further documentation; the published procedure says the assessment is not public. Certification is therefore a designation within the association. It is distinct from authorisation to provide regulated services under MiCA, which falls to the relevant supervisory authority. In Czechia, that authority is the Czech National Bank (ČNB). Neither designation by itself guarantees returns or rules out a provider’s failure. [3] [7]

The code of ethics covers matters that make sense without legal training: truthful advertising, protection of customer information and fair handling of complaints. The association also publishes the rules for its own ombudsman. The role is to help with complaints about members’ services, establish the facts and facilitate communication. Its remit is limited to the association’s activities. For customers, this offers another avenue to address a problem; it is neither a court nor a promise to reimburse lost money. [4] [5]

On the leadership page checked on 8 October 2026, František Vinopal is listed as chairman and Adam Chvaja as executive director. The board also includes Pavel Niedoba and Kamil Bouška. Atlas readers may know Chvaja through NaBitcoinu.cz and BitPlatby.cz. These are his separate projects: a connection through one person does not itself make them association services or establish that they are certified. Roles can change, which is why the date of this check matters. [1]

The website distinguishes supporters, ordinary members and certified members. These categories are not interchangeable. If you see the association’s logo on a service, check what relationship it actually denotes. When reading a policy statement, distinguish a proposed change from a rule already in force. ČKMA helps explain the Czech business environment; supervisory registers are the place to check a particular provider’s authorisation. Bitcoin’s own rules, meanwhile, are still verified by network nodes, not by a members’ meeting. [6] [7]
