The Czech edition of the educational allegory Bitcoin Money. Michael Caras and illustrator Marina Yakubivska introduce economic questions through a children’s story, rather than a technical specification of Bitcoin.
Bitcoinové peníze was written by Michael Caras and illustrated by Marina Yakubivska. Braiins Systems published Martin Halamíček and Anna Šmiřáková’s Czech translation in 2020. The available PDF’s colophon identifies it as a reprint of the first edition. [1]
The publisher offers the story to children and adults. Short situations in Bitville allow discussion of exchange without prior financial knowledge. Readers can first explain the characters’ problem and then evaluate the proposed solution. [2]
Alice sells lemonade, Robin mows lawns and Kája draws. Their needs may not coincide at the same moment. The book illustrates a barrier to direct exchange, not a documented common origin of all historical money. [1]
The children consider grass, lemonade, stones, bicycles and trees. Each suggestion reveals a different difficulty with storage, transport or division. Comparing functions is more useful than merely repeating the author’s final recommendation. [1]
Benny offers to store coins and issues paper receipts. The story then follows the breaking of that original promise. Discussion can separate easier transport of receipts from whether the custodian will actually honor the obligation. [1]
A shared blackboard and a phone app stand in for a much more complex system. In his opening note, the author prioritizes the economic role over technical explanation. The fictional Satoshi and other characters are not evidence for real biographies. [1]
The story’s happy ending does not promise readers increased purchasing power. Bitcoin.org points to price volatility and responsibility for a wallet. The possibility of backups does not mean access to self-held funds cannot be permanently lost. [3]
We read the entire Czech PDF text, including the author’s note, epilogue and colophon. The publisher’s announcement confirms the Czech edition. We did not review the separate English original or a recording; the discussion prompts are our editorial suggestions. [1]
For the clearest picture, read this entry together with Bitcoin Money, Self-custody, Bitcoin, Braiins.
